Research methodology applied to the exact sciences: Cause-effect
The scientific explanation is causal; it implies the assignment of general laws to specific cases and the object of study in this methodology is social reality, which can only be studied using the statistical method because it is unique. This leads to a methodological reductionism in which the object of study adjusts to the method and not the method to the object of study. This implies that socially established facts that are external to an individual are always reflected in his or her actions. In exact sciences, the methodology of inquiry focuses on experimentation, precise measurement and the use of the wise method to encompass phenomena and causal relationships. It is characterized by rigor, objectivity and the search for general laws through empirical tests.
